Your Walt Disney World Dream Vacation: When to Go for the Best Weather, Prices, Crowds, and Special Events

Updated: Dec 30, 2024

So, you're dreaming of a Disney vacation, but don't know when is the best time to go? Well if you're like me, there's never a bad time to visit Disney! But, as they say, timing is everything! Let's break down the best times to visit the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

First up, weather! If you love the heat, but don't mind a little (or a lot of) rain, and want to spend copious amounts of time lazing around the amazing Disney resort pools or plan to visit Typhoon Lagoon and/or Blizzard Beach, plan your trip for between May and September when the temps are the warmest. Keep in mind that hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30 peaking from mid-August to mid-October. On the flip side, if you don't mind skipping the pools and instead want to maximize your time in the theme parks, prefer cooler temps and want to avoid the rain, aim for November through March.

Now, let's talk prices. If you want to save some cash target these top 5 most affordable times to visit:

  • The 2nd and 4th week of February and the 1st 2 weeks of April

  • The whole month of May (except for Memorial Day weekend)

  • You can also score deals in most of September & October (except holiday weekends) and the first 2 weeks of November.

  • August 17 to September 4

  • January 6 to February 5

Crowds can make or break your Disney adventure. Although it varies slightly from year-to-year, there are some tried and true times to visit Walt Disney World for a more chill experience. Aim for mid-week in the first half of May, the first week of June, the second half of August, and most days in September, October, November, and December, except for certain holidays and peak weekends. Looking to visit in the Spring? Target February 1-6 and 26-28, March 1-6, and April 22-25 and 28-30.

And sometimes, weather, price and crowds don’t matter because you’re looking for that extra special dose of Disney Magic! Get ready for the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival (end of February through end of May), the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival (end of August through end of November), EPCOT International Festival of the ARTS Halloween at Walt Disney World (early to mid-August through Halloween), and Holidays at Walt Disney World (early November through December 31).
