Unlocking the Magic: Breaking down Disney's Lightning Lane Single Pass and Multipass System

If you're planning a trip to Disney, you've probably heard about the new Lightning Lane service and all the buzz around it. This game-changing feature allows you to skip the regular lines and make the most of your time at the parks. (for the purposes of this blog, I'll only be discussing how Lightning Lane works for guests staying on-property at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and the Disneyland Resort in California)

Lightning Lane Multipass

At the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, you can purchase the pass and snag up to 3 Lightning Lane selections per day of your entire trip beginning at 7am est 7 days in advance of your check-in date. Once you have redeemed a Lightning Lane selection (or the arrival window has passed) you will have the option to select another Lightning Lane experience based on availability. Now, not every ride is included and there is a tiered system for which rides you can select. Initially, you will be allowed to choose 1 experience from the most popular attractions as well as 2 other experiences from typically less-crowded attractions; however, after your first ride has been redeemed you may continue to add any available experiences regardless of tier.

At Disneyland Resort in California, you may purchase the lightning lane multipass at the same time as you purchase your park tickets; however, you may not begin making selections until you have entered the park for the day. Initially, you will be allowed to choose only 1 experience, but after your first selection has been redeemed (or after 2 hours since you initially booked your experience) you will be allowed to make an additional Lightning Lane selection. One of the key benefits to staying on property is that these guests receive early entry access and can begin making Lightning Lane selections before the general public.

Lightning Lane multipass pricing varies by day; however, pricing starts at $30/day.

Lightning Lane Single Pass

Lightning Lane Single Pass is an opportunity to bypass the lines for some of Disney's most in-demand attractions. With a single pass, you receive one pass for one attraction and pricing ranges from $11 to $25 based on day/attraction. Whether it be Walt Disney World or Disneyland, guests are limited to 2 Lightning Lane Single Passes per person/day. At Disney World, on-property guests can purchase these passes for the entirety of their stay beginning at 7am est 7 days in advance of your check-in date. At Disneyland, guests can purchase and book these experiences once you have entered the park for the day.

Current Lightning Lane Single Pass attractions include:

Magic Kingdom - WDW

  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

  • TRON Lightcycle / Run

EPCOT - WDW

  • Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Hollywood Studios - WDW

  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Animal Kingdom - WDW

  • Avatar Flight of Passage

Disneyland Resort

  • Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure Park

  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland Park

Now, here's the real question: why should you use a Disney travel agent instead of tackling all the planning on your own? Well, let me tell you – Disney travel agents are like real-life fairy godmothers when it comes to planning your Disney getaway. These experts know the ins and outs of everything Disney and can work their magic to ensure you have the most enchanting experience possible.

Think about it – instead of spending hours researching and stressing over which park to visit each day and which rides to book or waking up at the crack of dawn to book you Walt Disney World Lightning Lane reservations, a Disney travel agent can take care of all those nitty-gritty details for you. They can help you score those hard-to-get rides and help you navigate the new Lightning Lane system, and even sprinkle in some extra pixie dust to make your trip extra special.

Plus, if anything unexpected pops up during your trip, having a Disney travel agent in your corner means you've got someone to turn to for help and guidance. In the end, using a Disney travel agent can make your Disney vacation a much less stressful experience from start to finish.
